Rust is the result of iron reacting with oxygen and moisture, and in a coastal climate like South Florida it can take hold fast. Left untreated, rust spreads beneath coatings and weakens structural metal, marine hardware, and equipment.
Why rust spreads
Once corrosion starts, it creates a rough, porous surface that traps even more moisture and salt. That is why a small spot of rust on a railing or trailer can quickly become a much larger problem if it is only painted over instead of fully removed.
Laser vs. traditional methods
Sandblasting and grinding remove rust but also remove base material and create dust and spent media. Chemical strippers introduce hazardous waste. Laser rust removal ablates rust and oxidation layer by layer while preserving the underlying metal, with no media and minimal cleanup.
Because it is precise and mobile, laser cleaning is ideal for intricate hardware, tight areas, and projects where preserving tolerances matters.
